South Potteries Rapidplay Championship
A couple of late withdrawals meant that numbers were slightly down on last year. However, this did not detract from a very close competition, with 3 players finishing level on 4.5/6 - Jacob Boswell, Simon Edwards and Kasian Capatina. With no play-off this year the title was decided on countback, using the sum of progressive scores. After the dust had settled Jacob retained the title he won last year, with Simon coming second and Kasian third. Congratulations also go to Les Hall for managing (just) to stay awake all day. Click here for the full cross table of results.

A New Chess Mobile App
We have been contacted by Jon Fisher, who plays for Horfield Chess Club in the Bristol & District League. He has written an app, called ChessJournal, that allows you to record details of your matches and provides statistics on your results. It is currently only available for Apple iPhones and is available from the Apple App Store for £1.49 - search for ChessJournal. It is currently being worked on so that it will also work on iPads. It IS possible to download it on to your iPad but there will be parts of the app that may not work properly. Please click here for further details. This looks a very useful app and I would urge you to look at it.
