Robert Milner was duly elected as President of the Staffordshire Chess Association at last night's County AGM. Robert replaces David Anderton who has served as President for the past 3 years.
Abby Sergeant of Meir Chess Club has taken on the role of non-playing Captain of the County U140 team following the resignation of Denis Nesbitt. Denis has had to stand down due to work commitments.
The role of U160 Captain has not yet been filled. If anybody is interested in taking on the job could they please contact Robert Milner. No Captain means no team so please think about it if you are in the grade range for this team and want to play County chess.
David Anderton and Peter Evans will continue to run the Open and U120 teams respectively.
Andrew Davies, Andrew Leadbetter, Matthew Carr and Traci Whitfield will continue as General Secretary, Treasurer, Tournament Controller and Secretary Of Junior Chess respectively.
Ray Dolan received the backing of the County in his application to become Chief Executive of the Midland Counties Chess Union.
Newcastle were voted Club Of The Year, an award that Robert Milner accepted on their behalf. Robert also accepted the Withnall Trophy on behalf of Newcastle. Both trophies will be presented to Newcastle at the NSDCA AGM on 9th July.
