I am sorry to have to report that John Day has resigned as Captain of the County U140 team with immediate effect. The constant pressure of continually phoning round trying to raise a team of 16 players, only to be let down on the day, has led John to this decision and only serves to highlight the problems that all County Captains encounter.
Unless there are any volunteers to take over as Captain for the final 2 fixtures of the season - away to Nottinghamshire on 26th February and home to Warwickshire on 19th March - Andrew Davies, General Secretary of the Staffordshire Chess Association, will try to organise the team.
