RIP Derek Northage

Kidsgrove are very sad to have to announce the passing of Derek Northage. Derek played for Kidsgrove for many years, playing his last competitive game in late March. He had played chess for over 80 years and continued to play competitive chess well into his 90’s. He had also previously played for Newcastle. Despite developing physical frailties, his chess mind was strong up until the end.
