There was disappointment for all three of the Staffs teams playing in the County Championship Quarter Finals this afternoon.
The Open team were narrowly beaten 8.5 - 7.5 by Surrey. Click here for the full match score card. David Anderton, the Open Captain, has announced that he is standing down next season after 10 years in the job. The U100 team were badly hit by late withdrawals and could only raise 7 players on the day for their match against Essex. Essex themselves defaulted a board so the match was played over 11 boards instead of 12, with Staffs going down by 7.5 - 3.5. Click here for the full match score card.
Following the defeat of the U120 team in their recent Quarter Final match against Hertfordshire, the County have no representatives in the Semi-Finals this season.
