NSDCA Doubles Tournament

Although entries were slightly down on previous years, yesterday's Doubles Tournament was still very successful and highly enjoyable so many thanks must go to Martyn Harris for his excellent organisation. There was a slight change to the lineup prior to the start, with the lowest graded team in the 320 Section, Alberto Gissi and Michael Lee, moving down to the 220 Section to equalise the number of teams in each. The 220 then became the 235 Section.

The Blackburn family dominated the proceedings in the 320 Section, with Jon Senior and his daughter Suzy running out as winners with a score of 6/10. Runners up were Sandra Blackburn and son Jon with 5.5/10. It was a very close contest though with only 2 points separating first and last place.

Not surprisingly, the pair who dropped down from the 320 Section, Alberto Gissi and Michael Lee, took the honours in the 235 Section with 6.5/10, with father and son duo Neville and Simon Layhe just half a point behind in second place on 6/10.

The standout performance of the day was from Doug Barnett who won all 5 of his games. If only he had been blessed with a partner who could have scored more than zero the 235 Section could have been a whole different story !!
