Mickey Adams and Nigel Short both drew their 11th Round matches to finish level at the top on 8.5/11. There will now be a play-off over 2 x 20 minute Rapid Play games on Saturday morning. Gawain Jones and Jonathan Hawkins were unable to take advantage of the top pair's failure to win. They also both drew their respective matches to finish in joint 3rd position with 8/11.
Many congratulations to David Anderton who won the Senior Championship with a score of 6.5/7 - a full 1.5 points clear of his nearest challenger.
Bill Armstrong finished with a flourish, winning his final match in the Major Open to finish in the top half of the table with 6/11.
In the U160 Championship Jon and Sandra Blackburn both drew their final matches to finish halfway up the table with 2.5/5. Particular congratulations to Sandra on her performance as she was, at 120, the lowest graded player in this section and her lowest graded opponent was graded a full 27 points higher than her.
Jacob Boswell had a disappointing end in the U10 Championship, losing his 6th Round match and drawing his 7th Round match to finish on 2.5/7.
